With PRI the Conferencing chip would not be needed. Let's step back and look at the whole "problem".
For the sake of instruction, lets assume ( I know - never assume) that the loss from the CO to the customer is 3db. (It could be anyplace from 1 to as high 7 db or so actually) The two way loss would be double that, or 6db. So, if you put in the Conferencing chip, it "takes care of" the 6 db loss by adding 6db gain hence 0 db. In the case of the PRI, each DS1 ( trunk) would be at 0 db, so the only losses to contend with are those induced by the PSTN, and they TRY to keep that at 0db +/- 2db Don Jim Marks wrote: I am not PRI literate but it is conferencing audio and not digital signals in the D1232. Wouldn't IC19 Conferencing chip boost the audio 6DB to the outside Parties & help the situation? All out- and incoming lines are on the 23 channel KX-TD290 PRI. When an outside party is called and conferenced in with another outside party he can sometimes barely hear the original outside party, but hear the inside party just fine. This continues when the inside party hangs up and leaves the other two connected.
