The ring must be set on from the ksu, that is where the CID info is sent. 
you can turn the ringer off at the set and set the auto answer on for 
internally placed intercom calls but if you have a Dpits integrated tvs unit 
transferring calls you are correct that they will not "ring' in this 
scenario...........
