our customers used to take the battery out so they could take it to radio shack 
to get a replacement, and ended up 
loosing it ;-)

the battery pack is marked in the pix,  it is made up of two rechargeable nicad 
cells 1.2v @ 110ma/hr each.  you 
should be able to find 2 "AAA" nicads at radio shack that should work well 
wired in series.  you will have trouble 
finding a mating connector, it's an odd ball, but red is plus and black is 
minus.  the "AAA" cells are normally 
300ma/hr which will give you twice the storage time, and the charging circuit 
will have no trouble charging them.  
i would not use regular batteries(voltage too high), or nimh(they self 
discharge), or larger batteries(charger 
circuit is limited).

someone sent me a message they have them in stock (at Pano prices? ;-)  maybe 
they would send one to your country.
