I'm not sure if you need more suggestions, but I have seen some  
microswitches (usually in surplus places) that have a "one-way" feature- they  
have a 
spring-loaded lever attached that will trip the switch when an object  passes 
on 
one direction, but fold if it passes the other way.
 
That would let you trip the device when the door opens, but not when it  
closes . . .
 
The part is a Micro Switch (Honeywell) BZ-2RW826-A2 One-Way Roller Lever  
Snap Switch.
 
They are available from a number of sources online or eBay, or from Mouser  
Electronics.

You'd have to make a bracket to hold it so that the top of the door (or a  
bracket attached to the top of the door) would hit it as the door opened and  
closed.
