Without soap?  I even use a little bit of soap. :)  Anyways...lots of
the phones we have were 2nd hand off Ebay, and quite a few were very
dirty.  I used a citrus cleaner to start...which got most of the stuff
off...and the other stuff, like a few sticky parts on certain keys, I
used rubbing alch on a cotton-swab, and it got most of the leftover junk
off.

Any great ideas for cleaning sticky keys on my Panasonic KX7xxx
extensions would be appreciated.  We have several phones in our
restaurant area, and you can guess the rest.  I found out years ago that
you could put computer keyboards in the dishwasher without soap and air
dry, and they come out looking like new.
