I totally agree. Panasonic is a great reliable product. Where we have seen
problems is drop and run installers who do not take the time to do a
complete installation, program the dss keys, and label them. Also, they do
not take time for the customer, either initially, or for long term support.

We just replaced a Mitel switch (puffed its last smoke) with a KX-TDA100 in
a hotel. By taking time with the customer, and knowing the integration
**possibilities** with the TDA100, we were able to configure the new system
to save $2400 per year in telephone line charges. Talk about payback with
Panasonic.

IMHO (In My Humble Opionion), if you do not have a passion for Panasonic,
you should not be selling and supporting it.

Ask the office manager what he wants, since what ever you do may not be
right. Panasonic is not the problem, it may be the installer / service tech
that has given the bad name. Just because you get bad service at on
McDonalds, doesn't mean that they are all bad (well, maybe not a good
example).

I realize this is slightly off topic but I thought you guys might be able to
make a recommendation since you are probably knowledgeable in the field. We
have a Panasonic D1232 Digital Super Hybrid System with a TVS200 VPS.
Well the VPS has died on us and our office manager has decided that he wants
nothing more to do with Panasonic phone systems (long story there). Anyway,
since many of you install phone systems for a living, I was wondering if you

could offer a suggestion for an alternate system.

The only one so far that we have considered is the Avaya IP406 or maybe a
Samsung (http://www.bestbusinessphones.com/samsung.htm)
but are open to all options. The main features we are looking for are

SMDR logging
Uniform Call Distribution
voicemail
auto attendant
music on hold
message on hold
one touch recording
automatic recording
holiday configurable menus for the VPS

It would be nice to also have ACD and VoIP but those aren't as important.
Something else we really want is a system that is easy to configure and can
plug into our network instead of having to configure via a slow serial
connection or a manager phone as we do now. The Panasonic has
the features that we need but our office manager wants something that is
newer and is easier to configure.

Any suggestions?

Once we get our new system, we'll sell the D1232 so if anyone is interested,
make us an offer. You might be able to get some parts out of the TVS200.
Not sure whether one of the expansion cards is bad or what.

cheers,
Rob
