In my opinion, VOIP over the internet isn't ready for prime time. I'm using VOIP over a point-to-point T1 circuit, and there still are some issues even with that.

Oh, wouldn't _that_ be nice. I put in a support request to Cisco about this many months back. They told me that many people have requested this and that they plan to implement it in a future upgrade. It's not clear if this will require a hardware mod or not.
In the meantime they suggested I turn on the reverse polarity on disconnect feature. I did, but this didn't help.
Of course if you got your ATA-186 from Vonage, you can't get into the box to play.
It's getting harder to find CPC on POTS, espc iif you are fed from a SLC.
And when oh when will Panasonic support it on their PBXs!
