This is captured text from a doc from Panasonic Tech Support. In explains how to connect a USR 56K external modem to a TVS 75, 100, 200 VPS. If anyone has any suggestions or comments, please post as I will be driving two hours to a customer to install this next week so I can save on future drive time. Unfortunately, I cannot just hang a cheap PC off their network for this install, they won't allow any outside computers in their building for remote access (even if I just dial in!) but they will allow me to DIL1:1 two CO lines at night! Go figure. Anyways, here is the text.
1) Connect a modem cable (straight through) from you computer to the US Robotics 56k modem 2) With the modern power off assure that the dip switches am all set to the default values. SW I = OFF SW 2 = OFF SW 3 = ON SW 4 = OFF SW S = ON SW 6 = OFF SW 7 = ON SW 8 = ON 3) Turn the modem on and using; communication software (Hyper term works great). Enter the following modem AT command: At&D0&K0&M0&COQ1S0=1&WO Remember that the 0 entries above are all zeros! 4) Power the modem down and set the dip switches to the following new values, SW 1 = OFF SW 2 = OFF SW 3 = OFF SW 4 = ON SW 5 = OFF SW 6 = OFF SW 7 = OFF SW 8 = OFF (By the way, OFF means that the switch is UP.) 5) Attach a straight through 25 pin ma4s to 25 pin male serial cable from the modem to the R5232 port of the TVS 75/100/2OO. You can also use a standard D8 9 female to PB 25 mail serial cable and a Radio Shack Serial Port adapter 9 pin mail to 25 pin mail ( part number 26-1388B ) and put the adapter on the modem end of the cable. 6) Power up the modern and then the AA, CS, & TR lights should be on. 7) Call the TVS from an extension to test & Connect using the usual methods.
