Yes, you are right! "This is a job for" PANAMAX! The "on your phone" deal won't work as you can't print (or output) SMDR to a phone screen, only through the RS232 port.
So just sell them a cheap PC wired through to the PBX RS232 port, and another monitor or KVM switch and get the call accounting software, such as Panamax.
