Thanks to all who have responded.  Through this experience I have gone
back and re-re-reread the docs.  I was misunderstanding what programs
620-621 do (they aren't available on the -1).  As they don't do what I
thought, I really won't need the upgrade, as long as the -1 can handle
the caller-id card, which it should.

Mitch, even the -6 does not have an extension intercept to VM feature.
You
must still use the ext C-F-B-Na feature to forward any call that was not
immediately transferred to that ext. -6 does have the ability to set
different no ans. ring intervals per ext. and you can change the
blinking
fwd/dnd light to solid........
