Thanks to all who have responded. Through this experience I have gone back and re-re-reread the docs. I was misunderstanding what programs 620-621 do (they aren't available on the -1). As they don't do what I thought, I really won't need the upgrade, as long as the -1 can handle the caller-id card, which it should.
