Well,

Yes it can... but you will lose MANY MANY MANY features, and programming it
will be very disappointing.

You can set up some features through the terminal, but every time  you want
to check a message or record any greetings you will need to call your other
phone line to get into the system!

You would be better off considering a small phone system for your home, or
go back to a 2 line answering machine.
