Here's another option:

I set one extension to use the vm paging to announce to my kids that it is
ME calling so they better pick up the phone.  That works well (unless they
have their headphones on).

Set one mailbox to use intercom paging, and don't have a real extension on
that number. Then recorde the "owner's name" with the message you want the
system to say when it pages.  I have one extension set with the owner's
name: "Hey it's me calling, pick up the phone!"

If I call in and no one answers I enter that extension and sit back and
listen to my music on hold until they pick up.
