Subject: KX-T: KX-TD160 doorphone card (for the KX-TD816 systems)

Can someone tell me what the specification of the door opener contacts
on a KX-TD160 doorphone card (for the KX-TD816 systems) are?
In particular, when activated, does is there a voltage applied by the
card across the two terminals, or are they simply the common and
Normally Open contacts of a relay that is closed when the "opener" is
activated. Is there any way to get this info from panasonic?

The only info I can find appears to show this card directly driving an
electric door strike w/o an external supply. I need to provide contact
closure for an electric gate 300 ft away and an opto-isolated contact
closure would be ideal.

Japan might have some low-voltage specifications about door strikes, like
maybe 22 ga wire means no more than 18 volt door strikes or some such thing.
I always use the guidlines of Viking which is 1/2 Amp @ 125AC and 1A @
30VDC.
If you want to switch more or don't believe those specs, RIB (relay in a
box) and a tiny power supply is pretty cheap insurance :-)

RIBMU1C is about $18 and your favorite parts bin gets the voltage to run the
Panasonic side. Try www.functionabledevices.com for the RIB. Or, get the
161 door opener and you have 3 spares if ya burn one out...
