I'll endorse Charles' suggestion. The Nutone box is a quality product, easy
to work with, inexpensive, and readily available from multiple sources.

Three tips if you're adapting non-Pan intercom speaker boxes:
(1) If you plan to re-use the existing pushbutton, make sure it does not
have an internal incandescent light wired to cause a short circuit that will
make the intercom ring constantly.
(2) If your customer wants a lighted button, you may be able to find one
that fits that has an internal LED that can be wired separately from the
signal circuit; or just drill a small hole and mount an LED pilot light near
the button.
(3) If you don't have a spare pair to carry power to the LED, put a good 9-V
battery inside the box -- it should work for many months.
