I've got a few more ideas to polish up Kubuntu's visual presentation and UX for 18.04:

Use default wallpaper as background for KScreenlocker and SDDM lock screen
- https://phabricator.kde.org/T7854

Use Ubuntu font instead of Noto Sans
- https://phabricator.kde.org/T7848

Turn off Translucency effect when moving and resizing windows
- https://phabricator.kde.org/T7855

Turn on Glide effect
- https://phabricator.kde.org/T7856

Add a "Show Desktop" widget to the far right side of the default panel
- https://phabricator.kde.org/T7857

Thanks everyone!

Nate

Howdy everyone! Valorie invited me to join this list and share my
list of Kubuntu issues and papercuts, being a full-time user of
    17.10. Here's the list:

    Major issues
    ------------
    - Samba doesn't prompt the user to create a Samba password when
first installed, or re-use the existing one

    Wifi passwords asked twice

It seems there is active work on the associated KDE bug reports but no "fix released" yet. Perhaps we need to raise this issue on the KDE-Distributions list and see how many other distros are also experiencing this bug. When I encounter it, it is *really* annoying.

    Minor issues
    ------------
Ubuntu doesn't compile Okular with text-to-speech capabilities
    - https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/okular/+bug/1717131
    <https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/okular/+bug/1717131>

Looks like this dependency just needs to be added and the package rebuilt.

kde-thumbnailer-openoffice doesn't work in Plasma 5; no ODF previews

<https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kde-thumbnailer-openoffice/+bug/1711566>

"the OpenDocument thumbnailer needs to be compiled as a KF5 version, otherwise Dolphin will not use them.

https://store.kde.org/content/show.php?content=110864 has a patch from an openSUSE developer.

I suggest to report this issue to the bug tracker of your distribution, asking them to apply that patch."

So again, including the proper patch in there and rebuilding would fix this in my humble not-a-packager opinion.

Kubuntu Dolphin package's appstream metadata specifies Nautilus's
    icon instead of its own

This is just embarrassing! Probably an oversight long ago.

Out of time for right now, but thank you to Nate Graham for taking the time!

    Feature requests/nice-to-haves
    ------------------------------
    - Adopt openSUSE patch that adds high-res icons for Firefox and
Thunderbird, so the Large Icons task switcher in KDE Plasma doesn't
    have ugly icons
