The better part of decade later, I'm afraid this is still an issue. Hopefully some bright maintainer will have a minute to work on it, I appreciate that they are busy.
Meanwhile, I have to thank Dr. Uwe Meyer-Gruhl for his suggestion, which I change changed to: /usr/bin/x0vncserver -passwordfile /home/root/.vnc/passwd -localhost no -rfbport 5900 & I put this at the end of my /usr/share/sddm/scripts/Xsetup in lubuntu and it seems to work! (tigervnc-scraping-server works better than x11nvc) I have searched the net far and wide for a working vnc answer, and this was the ONLY thing that did the job. You, good sir, have my thanks! Now, I can finally finish my guacamole setup. (Hint: Use 1.4.0. Don't use the 1.5.5 docker, it won't work with vnc.) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to sddm in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1566542 Title: [upstream] Two sddm bugs with 16.04 – MIT-Magic cookie unpredictable for VNC / option "hideshell" buggy To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sddm/+bug/1566542/+subscriptions -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
