Public bug reported: For accessing an OpenVPN I have to use cipher "AES-128-CBC". With earlier versions of Ubuntu adding
vpn.cipher: "AES-128-CBC" to the netplan file via plasma-nm was good enough. Current OpenVPN throws an error: nm-openvpn[5639]: DEPRECATED OPTION: --cipher set to 'AES-128-CBC' but missing in --data-ciphers (AES-256-GCM:AES-128-GCM:CHACHA20-POLY1305). OpenVPN ignores --cipher for cipher negotiations. So I added vpn.data-ciphers: "AES-256-GCM:AES-128-GCM:AES-128-CBC" to the NetPlan file which overcomes the problem in OpenVPN. But when editing the connection via plasma-nm the new field is not displayed and saving the connection deletes the entry. --- ProblemType: Bug ApportVersion: 2.31.0+git20250220-0ubuntu2 Architecture: amd64 CasperMD5CheckResult: pass CurrentDesktop: KDE DistroRelease: Ubuntu 25.04 InstallationDate: Installed on 2021-07-01 (1333 days ago) InstallationMedia: Kubuntu 21.04 "Hirsute Hippo" - Release amd64 (20210420) Package: plasma-nm 4:6.3.1-0ubuntu1 PackageArchitecture: amd64 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 6.12.0-15.15-generic 6.12.11 Tags: plucky Uname: Linux 6.12.0-15-generic x86_64 UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to plucky on 2024-11-10 (106 days ago) UserGroups: N/A _MarkForUpload: True ** Affects: plasma-nm (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-collected plucky ** Tags added: apport-collected plucky ** Description changed: For accessing an OpenVPN I have to use cipher "AES-128-CBC".
