Larry, I have been a member of the KR Club for ages, and that proves that I am OLD…. I purchased one of the original kits, retract gear, less canopy, and a full set of plans… I followed a gentleman from Wisconsin who had made a few mods to represent a P-51…. have some picts somewhere with the two of us and several of the plane….nice job but I found out that I did not fit far enough to close the canopy and fly.,,, didn’t think it was intended as a open cockpit…. therefore sold the kit complete, and moved on to a Loehle….still in progress… I traveled for a living, so had the opportunity to visit Ken and family on different occasions…. bought one of the prop hubs that was on the original from Ken at one of the conventions, (later to return it to his wife for the museum at sometime)… assisted when the original KR-1 was presented at Oshkosh convention as it was donated to the EAA museum, so had a memory of Ken and his project that is still very fond in my heart… I do have one of the KR belt buckles you have talked about on the net different times….. A model builder borrowed the plans one time and built a non flying model for me as a memento to hang in my shop...so tho’ I did not continue with the build of a KR model, they and the group is still on my to-do list to check every day or so and enjoy the activity….. (Especially the poems of Larry Flesner) I would be most honored to recieve a signed copy for my pleasure, and to be donated to the Iowa Aviation Museum in Greenfield upon my death, with the other aviation items that are destined for a forever home to be enjoyed by anyone…
Graciously yours, Joe E Wallace 1697 Hwy 25 Creston IA 50801 I will send a $10.00 bill upon receipt of your mailing address…..jw > On Jul 13, 2025, at 18:15, Larry Flesner via KRnet <[email protected]> > wrote: > > > > I've been writing poems, songs, and "Observations on Life" shorts ("Aging is > not a linear process") for the past 30+ years and the poems and Observations > are now available in a book I published.
