The original GP alternator wasn't very strong . . . 16 Amps?  Somewhere (I'm 
pretty sufre it was on the GP website which, as you mention, is temporarily 
down) I recently came across the info that GP has upgraded their stator 
alternator to something substantially stronger . . . a welcome improvement.
Hopefully Dan will sort you out.
