My great plains motor has a spinning permanent magnet assembly and a fixed
coil assembly.

The permanent magnets are stuck on full time, full blast, not variable like
an automotive alternator, so not controllable in that way.

The wired must be connected to a rectifier, yes, but then the available
power must be regulated in a fashion completely different from a car
alternator.

It is like a dc home windmill type regulator for a windmill alternator with
permanent magnets.

You'll want it right for flight, but you don't have to have it connected
for an engine test run.
