We're homebuilding by hand an airplane that is so easily tweaked it's
laughable, and using crappy plans that leave a lot to the imagination,
so of course you can use Diehl skins. There is a slight performance
deficit, probably a 10mph decrease in top speed, but as I've said
before, if you already have your wings built, it's probably not worth
the effort to throw them away and redo the wings for the new airfoil,
and Diehl wing skins are practically built....just need spars to glue
them to. FreeBird spars can just be made shorter to the Diehl skin
drawings. Freebird will have slightly longer wings also. But there's no
reason Diehl skins can't be fitted to a FreeBird.

agree. when I saw them I snapped them up without any hesitation. cost
me around $1500 total... (new they were well over $300, now unavailable!)
If I didnt get the issue which will keep me from flying, I would never
part with them until they on a KR!
but it's only been a couple days and I plan to repost every so often
in case anyone hasnt seen their availability
someone interested asked today if they would fit the new freebird, so
I suggested to ask here.
But I know they can if the outer spars are made to the correct dimension.

Hard to imagine your wings haven't yet sold. Not only are they
more precisely built than most homebuilt ones, they are extremely
durable as well. Mine are 35 years old and haven't a ripple or
bubble on them. Diehl's design (thinner, smoother and with the
little upturned tips that help to disrupt tip drag) is nicer than
most garage-built ones I've seen. All this together with the huge
time saving they give makes using them a no-brainer, to my mind.
