That is pretty dark, doc. I agree there is a dark side to our capitalist
economic system. (There is also a bright side.) Sans government regulation,
what can we do?

The gift economy has always existed side-by-side with the regular economy.
However, it really took off and provided us with some interesting solutions
when Richard Stallman, and others, decided to create free, open-source
licensing.

Marc Andreessen, an Iowa-born, Wisconsin-raised kid attended Univ of
Illinois and co-created the Mosaic web browser. He became a Silicon Valley
entrepreneur and venture capitalist. A decade ago, he wrote an interesting
article: *Software is Eating the World* (
https://a16z.com/2011/08/20/why-software-is-eating-the-world ).

So, if everything is becoming software, then free, open-source software is
how we expand the gift economy's bright light as an antidote into the
darkness of proprietary software capitalism, maybe?

Software includes programs and data. Autopilot software is mostly
programming. KR/Freebird plans are mostly data.

I have been lurking on this email list for awhile, but reading that this
community is creating the KR/Freebird free, open-source plans and a huge
quantity of supporting docs from many innovators, I am very excited to
participate.

I reached out to Mark Langeford last month to let him know that the domain
name that he was planning to use was still available to register. He
informed me that he decided to use something slightly different. I, then,
registered something slightly different from those two domains, also. I
received an email from GoDaddy this morning that someone is interested in
buying my domain name. I discovered that it is Mark's email address. I am
not interested in selling the domain.

I have two options to offer, instead. Option #1: In the spirit of the gift
economy, I donate the domain to Mark if that is the one he would prefer to
use for his new website. Option #2: I donate the development/hosting of a
cutting edge Backdrop CMS website with the domain using only free,
open-source software. Mark would be the Admin or whomever Mark and you all
decide.

The Admin has all of the power of what content is allowed on the site and
who can be contributors. The Admin also decides how to allocate roles and
permissions of those roles.

If you want to move away from the early 90's plain vanilla HTML style
websites to a full-featured, secure, cutting edge site; that is how I can
contribute to this community. Let me know if you are interested in Option
#2 and I can begin to explain the kind of features that are possible.
