         🤣☝️ Love it

Although a SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) rather than a checklist item,
this is indeed a sensible assessment to make - especially in your part of the
world with an abundance of airports boasting multiple runways.

It enables the pilot to confirm that he/she is indeed on the correct take-off
vector - you should be able to read the runway designator (the 'numbers'). You
can then compare this to your direct reading compass/directional indicator/EFIS
PFD/NFD/HUD or what have you - they should all agree. You have a sensible angle
(orientation) to gauge the windsock which enables easy assessment of wind
direction during the take-off roll and at lift-off - it should also clue you as
to whether a quick mental crosswind calculation is sensible. The windsock in
turn lets you know roughly what the wind velocity (direction & strength) in the
airfield vicinity is so that, God forbid, if your engine loses power outside
gliding distance from said aerodrome then you can initially 'aim' in a sensible
direction for an off-field landing then adjust your direction for terrain.
Even in your local area at altitude, the wind direction at take-off will be a
better initial assessment of the surface wind than a 'guess' in absence of
other visual cues from the ground - also helpful in the event of power loss.

Yep, align with runway. I love it too.
