My 2180 from Great Plains was rated for 3.6 quarts engine oil. After installing the Revmaster oil cooler, oil pump and pump housing spin-on filter and removing the firewall mounted filter and cooler, went to 4.5 quarts oil. The previous spin-on oil filter held about 0.5 quarts. I don't know the quantity needed to fill the external hoses and galleries. Suggest you calibrate the oil dip stick similar to calibrating a fuel tank gauge and dip stick. Usually going to be un-usable fuel in the fuel tank. Same for un-drainable oil in the engine and accessories. That said: put in a quart of oil, turn the engine by hand and mark where oil shows on the dip stick (if at all). Keep going quart at a time. I don't know the configuration for your installation. My KR-2 was conventional retract gear, then became a fix conventional gear, then a nose dragger with Diehl gear, then nose dragger with Grumman modified main gear legs. Each iteration required re-cal for the oil dip stick. Once you have settled on the dip stick calibration, take at least one picture of that dip stick, and make the engine log entries and operator handbook update.

Subject: KRnet> Oil quantity

What is the quantity of engine oil people are using for the VW. 2180cc. I’m doing an oil change and putting in a new dip stick. I want to mark it at the proper locations
