Yup Larry, when u mentioned residential detector, I vaguely recalled some issue with them, and that was it but I just didnt connect the dots until you posted this discovery. In my house I use the kind with a digital readout which I believe are instant as far as the readout even if they dont alert until a while later...
But for flying would use the one linked...
