As to that engine: I had a Jab 2200 and flew it across the country in an
AVID Mk4 with extended speed wings. At gross weight we got it up to11,200
on a hot day over CA Central Valley... It climbed at 1100fpm sea level.
85HP and light as a feather...

There are updates to those engines you may want to check on for sure. Also,
mine was cranking slow after sitting. I got the 3300 starter, no change,
bigger battery, no change, heavier batt cables, no change. It "felt" ok
hand turning. But due to the flywheel dowel update and just for maint
and because of this "dragging", tore it down. Turns out the small end of
the conn rods had surface rust which had taken up the clearance and were
tightening up. Also, there is a strict protocol when these are not run. If
that wasnt followed, tear it down and inspect it if u are qualified.

Also, the long head studs and thru bolts can fail under certain
circumstances (detonation) and that too can be avoided, so check that.
BTW, there was a raging debate about rolled threads vs cut threads on those
long cylinder studs. Jab used cut threads but rolled threads were said to
be superior in holding power and resisting tensile breakage. I'm not sure
where that conversation went. This was around 2010.

I just googled and found this thru bolts and studs update.

I think they are neat motors, light, and perform very well but it would pay
to find out all these little details. They run like a Singer sewing machine!

Seems like a great choice for the KR!

BTW as to props, mine had all the wrong prop 56-44 prince (IIRC) and when I
went to a Tenn 64x36 (again, IIRC, might have been 38 pitch), it
dramatically improved climb performance with only a slight increase in
cruise RPM. Props are weird that way!

Also, mine had the older more conservative carb jetting needle and I burned
5+ GPH, but the newer leaner needle can reduce that by 1 GPH.

Hope some of these recollections help! :)
