Chad,

When I first flew my Kr-2 (standard original plans built with retracts) I had
my elevator trim tab locked in position ( not movable).

I installed an elevator trim system that applied pressure on the elevator
cables using a spring on each cable and a adjusting cable to a geared window
crank mounted by the throttle/carb heat/mixture controls on the left side of
the cock pit.

I flew this set up for several years with good results. I recently decided to
change it to be able to use the actual trim tab so I would have redundancy in
case of elevator control failure.

I went to the setup suggested in the plans and that system works well. I am
thinking about installing an electronic servo system and removing the cable
system that physically attaches to the trim.

I also have a similar spring system to do rudder trim.

Hope this info is useful. Stay safe and have fun.
