Very great read John, always nice to hear about new KR aircraft making their first flights in the sky.
Pete and Chuck, if you’re reading this, congratulations on the new aircraft! Only real “recommendation” I have, would be to look into a little less propeller; 2700 RPM for a VW conversion is a little on the lower side, and most of us running Revmasters or Great Plains conversions generally get 3000-3200 static. If you search the KRnet, you will find no shortage of information on propellers, but one thing to note, is that not all propellers perform the same. A 54” x 54” Sterba propeller will not deliver the same performance as a 54” x 54” Sensenich, as each manufacturer measures pitch a little bit differently. If you’re using an SAE-1 prop hub, I have a Culver 54” x 48” (diameter x pitch) you are welcome to test out sometime, which yields me about 110 knots in cruise at 3200rpm. It is a little underpitched for my upgraded Revmaster engine (~80 HP), however if you’re in the 65-70HP range, it should be about perfect. Either way, congratulations again, and feel free to reach out to me or anyone on the KRNet anytime!
