Yesterday we had another "Flash Flyin", nicknamed Pandemic #6! The
usual suspects showed up, Jeff Scott, Larry Flesner, and me. Mike
Sylvester would have been there, but discovered a serious fuel leak that
will likely require some new carb parts. Robert Pesak was missing in
action, but Roger Baalmann was there. Rob Schmidt would have come also,
but was troubleshooting some kind of engine miss, and passed until
that's fixed. Also there was Franck the Canadian, who bought Jeff's
awesome KR2S, having mastered it and was preparing to fly it back home
to Canada shortly. Jeff flew his Super Cub in....winning the "shortest
distance flown" award.....30 miles!
We did a lot of standing around talking, a quick lunch of Mexican at a
nearby restaurant, some more talking, and eventually headed back home.
We'll have to go back there soon though, because by all accounts, they
have a pretty cool WW2 museum, given that this was formerly an Army Air
Corp base (three runways....all that stuff). The photos on the wall of
the FBO are a museum all by themselves. We'll schedule the next one for
a Saturday, when the museum is open all day. Stay tuned....
