I did much the same thing. I purchased a C-150 that landed off airport
and flipped on it's back, engine off. I got the air frame, minus wings,
for $1800 and stripped it like a buzzard. I sold what was left for $800
to a rebuilder that wanted the nose fork. Engine, instruments, wheels,
brakes, axles, antennas for $1000. That was years ago but bargains are
still there for those that are good scroungers. We're not depleting the
fleet, we're creating organ donors.
