Hi Sid, I started my KR2-S in 1993 after driving to OSH and buying the plans. A couple of years later I had the bottom half of the fuselage done along along with the wing spars and had bought Dan Deihl's wing skins for it. I quit building when there was discussion about placement of the rear spar to let it fly more level rather than nose down like an unloaded B-52. Back to OSH in '98 where I got a ride in a Kolb Mark III ultralight and I was hooked. I always thought that would be what I'd get but my wife had other ideas. She said the Challenger looked more like a real plane that those others with the tubular empennage. I bought a Challenger II long wing kit in '99 and had it flying in 2000. It's been the kind of flying I always wanted to do but never could in rental planes. I keep it at home and use a pasture for my little airstrip. Yeah, I can't go anywhere fast but flew it from Rapid City, SD to OSH in 2002 with a group of Challenger drivers the I joined up with along the way. I've flown over to local radio control strips to visit with the guys and pretty much use most of their 350' strip. It's not a KR but you'll sure have a lot of fun with it. The short wing version is even more sporty and as Don Zank says (he's a Wisconsin dealer), it's a "yank and bank" version of the Challenger. Jim HaywardRapid City, SD

FAA says it was an incident due to material failure: Rusty little crack at the failure point on the nose wheel strut. FAA inspector says I should go fly more. I readily agreed. So now what? I have crossed over to the dark side. Yesterday, Tuesday, Bernie Wunder and I each purchased two identical Challenger II kits. Estimated delivery in March 2020.
