Great read. I've needed plenty of repeat instructions myself thats why we have things like readback etc, checks and balances to turn a simple mistake into a simple lesson and move on. Calling clear of a runway when you are almost clear and moving off doesnt seem a big one to me at all especially if a quick correction by the controller turned it into an easy lesson.
And, I might add, sounding confident (like ATC always does) doesnt mean squat if you arent sure of your situation and priorities. Controllers do a great job almost all the time, but listen to this one at an airport near me. Scary. We had TWO parties lost situational awareness without even having a clue for precious minutes (ATC and 1448) and a THIRD (2998) decided to decline ATC instruction twice and possibly if not probably saved hundreds of lives... (looks to me like a successful use of OODA loop). This incident IIRC catalyzed changes to airport signage and other process changes. https://youtu.be/zM_OCV8KT1A On Mon, Nov 11, 2019 at 10:43 PM Samuel Spanovich via KRnet < krnet@list.krnet.org> wrote: > Oscar, do not get discouraged, we have all been there done that when it > comes to radios. > _______________________________________________ Search the KRnet Archives at https://www.mail-archive.com/krnet@list.krnet.org/.
