I think the larger airport would be the best choice at first.  It will give
you plenty of room as you learn the handling characteristics in ground
effect in a more protected environment.  Grass strips can also aggravate
any handling problems while at high speed but still on the ground.  Sound
is also another issue.  A grass runway has a lot of extra sounds and
terrain roughness that could make hearing problems before leaving the
ground more difficult.   Another consideration is safety.  The larger
airport will give you longer to get stopped should you have to put it back
on the runway unexpected and you will also have much larger safety areas
around.   Also, should something worst happen, there are more people there
as well as faster access by fire and rescue.

As Larry said, you don't have to stay there, but since you are working out
a whole lot of unknowns on the first few flights, from a safety perspective
the larger airport would be the better choice to start.
