Mike,

This one sounds familiar. I damaged my composite seat and replaced her with
an aluminum pan. It stretches across the two spars and is securely mounted
to them. The aluminum pan is still in the aircraft. The aluminum will be
much lighter than the wood and a little softer on the bum.

Thanks,

Subject: KR> Timing/ composit rep.

Perfect timing on this one.

I have spent the last couple of days trying to come up with a fix for my
composite seat that I pretty much destroyed by taking off some spray glue
with paint thinner. It made it's way inside the composite sandwich and
melted my blue foam. I have been scrambling trying to make repairs so that I
don't miss the Gathering. I decided to temporarily build a plywood style
seat to get me back in the air. I know I'm looking at a weight penalty of 6
or 7 lbs. but it'll have to do for now.
