I think you are right on the displacement, but I flew the carburated version,
that also produced 125 hp.... I was a flight instructor just out of Embry
Riddle and working as chief flight instructor at a military flying club in
Germany.  We had two of the Rheims built C-150 Aerobats with the 125 hp
engines, and a 152 with the Lycoming.  They flew pretty well, giving us a 1000
fpm climb in the pattern with a 3000 ft density altitude. The only outward
clue, was the bumps in the cowl for the spark plug wires on the front
cylinders.

I think that would be a great engine for the KR-2!! But I think I'll stick to
the converted Corvair with 2850 or 3000 cc's and about 120 hp.

You might be thinking of the Continental IO-240 but I wasn't aware they were
ever used in the Aerobat.  I'd love to have an (injected/opposed) 240 in my KR
but I'd have to sell the airplane to afford one.  That engine is an 0-200 case
with, I think, 0-360 cylinders and fuel injection and rated at 125 hp.  That
would make a KR really scoot.  That engine was used in the Cessna plastic two
place trainer that was discontinued.  One was modified for water cooling and
used in Rutan's round the world flight.  The engine occasionally comes up for
sale on Barnstormers but out of my price range. Larry Flesner
