Well guys I'm feeling pretty foolish. They aren't aluminum and the ends
don't connect with each other as I stated.

I ran into Sparky at the airport and he told me the plans for these
covers were in the newsletters . . . back in the day. If someone has all
the old newsletters on a CD maybe searching for "wing gap covers" might
bring it up. It'll be a better description than the one I'm giving,
that's for sure. I didn't even get the material they're made of correct.
Aluminum would work just as well, but my covers are strips of
fiberglass,. not aluminum like I said they were.. The bottom end hooks
over a wing attach fitting bolt. It's a circle of a diameter that lets
it fit upon the wing attachment bolt - the forward bolt of the rear wing
attachment fitting. It's a round hole that rides on a threaded bolt. The
other end goes forward and up around the wing ending in a curved fitting
that fits over the trailing edge and is secured with a small wood screw.

I took a bunch of pictures but for whatever reason hardly any of them are
focussed well enough to be of any use. I salvaged a few and put them on
One Drive. Here's the link.

The mechanism that holds the "hook" that fits over a wing attachment
fitting bolt, is on a threaded rod that can be turned in order to tighten
or loosen the cover, depending on whether you're putting the strips on or
taking them off. I don't know where in the world one would find such a
mechanism. I'll ask Ken Cottle if he remembers where he got them, or if
he fabricated them himself. From what Sparky said this design isn't that
unusual . . . at least it wasn't unusual in the early days of KR
building. Common or not, I don't think I've ever seen them on any other
KR's - but I normally don't focus on wing gap covers. Somebody on the
list surely knows more about this design, than I do. Maybe someone will
come across the newsletter info that Sparky mentions.

Sorry for such a lousy rendering of this gap cover design. Maybe Ken
will know where those adjustable fittings can be found. I'll get an
email off to him tonight. Also, I'll take a better camera next trip over
to the hangar.
