I noticed rust particles on the hangar floor under the exhaust exits on the
2180 VW. These exhaust pipes are 4130 steel and were ceramic coated inside
and outside by Jet Hot. The guaranty by Jet Hot was for life. The outside
of the ceramic coated pipes look exactly like when they were received from
Jet Hot. Not so for the rusty inside.
The engine has not been run for 19 months. The engine has 12.4 hours TT. I
held a paper towel under the exhaust pipe outlet and tapped on the pipe with
a plastic screw driver handle. The picture shows what I collected in a few
seconds. Wonder how much life is left in my current exhaust pipes?
