Announcing the 2018 KR Gathering's return to Mount Vernon, Illinois! At the 2017 Lee's Summit Gathering, the group present voted to have the next Gathering in Mt. Vernon. Paul Visk confirmed with Chris Collins (KMVN airport manager) our September 13 - 15 dates are approved.
The group recognized it is no small job according to all the prior hosts present at KLXT. We decided to go to a "no-host" format. Several people volunteered to pick up parts of the overall task load. I haven't heard back from all of them yet and hope to soon. The http://krgathering.net web site is now updated with the details we do have ironed out. Both Larry Flesner and Paul Visk know Chris and may be able to assist with some parts of the event. I am doing the web site stuff and online registrations. Mark Langford & Robert Schmitt are also involved. Please look at the [Fly-In Contacts <http://krgathering.net/web_pages/krcontacts.htm> ] page for the duties already covered and those still to be picked up. If there is something specific where you want to help out, please email me and I'll help get you started with what needs to be done. Lastly, a few weeks ago, Jeff Scott posted to the KR Net that there's many more KRs actively registered than we hear from on KR Net. Jeff is absolutely right. I downloaded the FAA Aircraft database and I come up with over 220 actively listed on the FAA Aircraft Registry. That means each owner has sent in their $5 to FAA to keep the N# on the roles. Mark is creating a promotional piece to mail out to all those folks. We want to encourage them to show up for the 2018 KR Gathering and to sign up for the KR Net also. If just 10% show up that could be 22 airplanes we haven't seen recently or maybe ever. We're hoping for the best turn out to date.
