Thanks Mark. Looks like a good solution and should minimize the hole Cedric
would have to dig in the wing stub. Added benefit would be an
inspection/maintenance port created.

Any idea whether the flex is really a problem? We are pushing to get the plane
finished an flying by the end of next summer - so I don’t want to push my son
into doing unnecessary mods.

Cheers,
Owen

One possible solution would be to chop the bent end off and replace it with a
"two piece shaft collar" with a bellcrank welded to it. You can see one of
these critters in the second from the last and the last photo at
http://www.n56ml.com/kcontrol.html <http://www.n56ml.com/kcontrol.html> . I
used one of these on both the elevator pushrod and my giant flap torque tube.
It won't slip if properly sized and torqued, at least mine have never slipped.
McMaster Carr sells them, at https://www.mcmaster.com/#shaft-collars/=19yz1lt
<https://www.mcmaster.com/#shaft-collars/=19yz1lt> .... (scroll down for
aluminum ones) . I don't know enough about the geometry of the plans-built flap
mechanism, but this might work for you.
