Hi Rick,

This is good news indeed as I do not intend to put holes in mine. Thank you so
much for your feedback.

Kind regards,

Henni

Without holes in the belly board you are redirecting some of that energy

With holes you are defusing the energy and creating drag. Like the speed brake

I have not had that experience. I first flew with just the plans built flaps
which are very ineffective and I began to investigate how to make them more
effective, what I ended up doing is placing a belly board/flap between and
attached to the inboard flap ends, It deploys with the flaps. I first had holes
in the added board/flap and flew it which produced an improvement in drag and
lowering the nose down on final. I then taped over the holes and flew again -
this time there was an additional improvement, so I glassed over the holes and
have been flying it for over 300 hours with no noticeable "redirected thrust"
or turbulence blanking the tail, which I believe is the real reason for the
holes in the dive brakes on WW2 dive bombers. Like Larry says your experience
may vary!
