Louis, I would use Stainless steel. If I recall from the plans, they called out .007" stainless. That can be hard to find, but .010" Stainless is pretty readily available. Galvanized is an option if you wish, but do not use Aluminum as it will melt in a hot fire, which defeats the purpose of it being a firewall. Use fibrefrax as an insulating blanket under the stainless.
