I can use fort he KR with that axle size or if I need to come up with a

Those 1.5" axles are for 600x6 wheels, which are rather large for a
KR...they look like tundra tires to me. Most use the 500x5 wheels,
which have 1.25" axles, but are otherwise similar.
A quick trip to Aircraft Spruce and a search for "axle" will explain a
lot about this. Some older KRs even use solid steel 5/8" axles, but
they are really not up to the job for a heavier KR, and are marginal for
a light one.
