I use the spring loaded variety in your picture with decent results but it's a
VW and if you don't see a little bit of oil somewhere it probably isn't running.

Subject: KR> Pushrod Tube Preferences?
I’m close to starting the reassembly of my engine, and I’ve purchased a number
of parts to replace things that looked worn to me. One such item was a set of
pushrod tubes… however, now that I’m looking at them, I’m wondering if the old
ones really need to be replaced. The new ones are the accordion style, the old
ones are two concentric tubes with a spring and two o-rings to seal the tube
halves together… Anyone have preferences either way? I’ve enclosed a picture of
the two for reference.
