Most KRs use cables, but my next plane will also have aileron pushrods.  It 
may be a little heavier, but if one falls off, at least the other side still 
works!  I think what you're fishing for is the AN490 rod end, which is 
riveted or welded into a tube.  Wicks and AS&S both carry them.  In my case, 
I'd rivet the steel pushrod end into an aluminum tube, probably a half inch 
OD at a minimum. Tubing wall thickness depends on the rod end size. Then I'd 
choose an appropriately threaded female rod bearing for ends.  Play your 
cards right and get opposite-hand threads to make the adjustment process 
easier...
