Due to sort of crummy weather this morning, I had to wait till afternoon to
get in a little KR flying. So, after lunch, I headed to the airport. It
was still fairly overcast until around 3. Then it started breaking up a bit
and gave me a window to get in the air. The purpose for the flight today,
was to check out some new settings for the Auto Pilot navigating off the
Ifly720. I am now using these settings between the Ifly and the D10-A and
they work. I am not suggesting that other settings do not work.

The receive baud rate on the D10-A and the Ifly must be the same and I have
mine set to 4800.

The data out from the iFly is pin 3, ground pin 5, from a 9 pin RS-232, so
you must be sure that the equivalent for pin 22 is mating with pin 3.

You must also be sure that there is no connection to pin 2 on the RS-232
when operating in this mode.

You must be sending these sentences: GPRMB GPRMC GPGGA GPBOD or GPAPB from
the Ifly.

To inhibit the erratic behavior of the D10-A trying to chase the course
line, set the AP>Roll Servo>Trn Rt Limit>0.

Yesterday, I asked Dynon what setting the Roll Servo Turn Rate Limit to
zero, does, and will post when I get the answer.

Anyway, yesterday, I took off into the wild and not so blue sky and as soon
as I leveled off, I set the bug for the ALT to 1500, to stay under the CAE
airspace and turned on ALT. Then, I instructed the GPS to fly direct to, to
reset the course line to be starting where I was at the time, and then went
into the MODE menu and set it to NAV and turned on NAV. The AP was now
working fully in GPS navigation mode. I was now at 1500 ft and seeing some
looming moisture not too far above me, so reset the ALT bug to 1000 and
pressed the 180 button on the AP menu. The KR now went into a 180 degree
descending turn and leveled out at 1000 ft heading to CUB.

At this point, I was satisfied that the AP was operating as intended on all
functions, so hit the disengage button and flew her home to a smooth
landing.

I have only high praises for both Dynon and Adventure Pilot. Their support
to help get all this figured out and set up right has been above and beyond
the call of duty. I know that Dynon would rather have us all using their
SkyView, and who wouldn't, but they are still giving those of us who are
using the older devices their full support. And, you cannot get a better
partner than Adventure Pilot, because there is not one. I call them
Partner, because they have been with me, doing anything that I need,
answering any questions that I have, right from when I was asking questions
about the new Ifly720, to getting everything working perfectly. They take
suggestions from their customer base and act upon them, which you don't
often find these days. Check them out at: http://ifly.adventurepilot.com/
They now have an AirGizmo for installing your Ifly in the panel.
