Ok, now I want one. Dynon and autopilot that is.

I have resisited anything that would cause me to touch my instrument panel or
change it because..... It looks so nice the way it is. But, as far a gadgets go
( and we are all gadget geeks) and function and safety, I now have decided I
want this too. Ok, and a bit of the keeping up with the Jones, LOL and Heath's,
I gotta get me one of those.

So, the obvious is how much and gee, I wonder if Santa would get me one? But,
being a single dad of one son in college, one in high school and one in
elementary, Im thinking I dont have any Santa's with the deep enough gift bag.

Great info Dan! I love to see KRs with an Autopilot, not sure I'll ever go
there myself but good to see all the gadgets working!

So, now to put the "Magic Carpet" into action, I recently gave the Black
Bird a couple of little presents. One was to replace the experiment of the
mirror motor trim servo with a Ray Allen and the other was a Dynon
autopilot. Since I did not have much experience using this new feature of
the Black Bird, I wanted to see what she would do with it. I knew, sort
of,
how to use the Heading and Altitude features, but so far, GPS Navigation
had
not been available. So, I went to the Bugs menu and set the Altitude to
4500 and as I was already following the GPS heading fairly well, told it to
Sync the heading bug with the current heading. Then I just turned on the
HDG and ALT function. Wala! Instant magic carpet. Nothing left to do but
to enjoy the ride and monitor everything. The Black Bird was maintaining a
heading of 278 and when she reached 4500 feet, leveled off and maintained
that altitude. It seemed like magic. A KR2 flying itself, how is that
possible?
