Noted in Herb Gillespies KR2 design review (decades ago) that as designed the 
torsional stifness for the wings was mostly handled by the wing skin alone. 
When building mine I epoxy glued 1/16" poplar ply to each side of the foam ribs 
(between the spars only) and tied these  the spars with triangle wood strips. 
Makes a good ladder truss.
