Opps, think I sent this to the wrong address??? ----- Original Message ----- From: david To: 50742e5c.4080...@rudix.servepics.com Sent: Wednesday, October 10, 2012 9:49 AM Subject: canopy latching My KR2 is 'old school', sometimes the old is simpler and safer(???). Side opening and latching, with the two turn-buckle original design/suppled latches. I added a safety latch copied from Rutan's Verieeze (and front opening auto hoods). Have taken off a few times with the back latch not properly secured. Result is a lot of noise and air circulating in the cockpit with the rear opening 1/4". A quick landing and relatch. Rescue from outside is easy...pull the canopy hinge pin. My old retrack gear system isn't very modern but sure helps keeping the plane upright when landing in the ruff; simply folds back while you enjoy/endure the 'Nantucket sleigh ride'. .
