Hey Guys,I got a little get away with my 17 year old son this past week. My Dad
had a house rented in Cape Hatteras for the week and invited us down. I had to
attend to some things at work until mid afternoon on Wednesday but at 3 pm the
weather looked good and by 3:30 we were air born. We flew down the DelMarva
peninsula and crossed over the Bay-Bridge tunnel and then followed the outer
banks island down to the cape. It took about 2 hours and 20 minutes from engine
start to shut down. Sure is a lot of water. Spent a full day and 2 nights sight
seeing and swimming and returned home on Friday with a stop for fuel at Dare
Co. just west of First flight airport. There was a little weather but we were
able to climb over and maintain full VFR and then it improved the rest of the
way back to KUKT. It was the little getaway kind of trip that the KR is meant
for. Yea fuel is a bit expensive but I could not have done something like this
for twice the cost of what I put in fuel and there is no comparison to the time
factor. To drive to see the family would have been about 10 hours each way and
now that i think about it road tolls are about $40 for that trip too. Hey I'm
just sayin' let's get some of these things finished up and come join the
privileged life.Joe Horton, Coopersburg, Pa. About 750 hours now
