Subject: KR> KR-1 restoration project for sale

For someone looking to get a jumpstart on a KR-1 build, I have a KR-1
restoration project for sale - N7753. The registration is still in the
original
builder's name. It was in flying condition at one point and has a temporary
airworthiness certificate, but that was a long time ago. The story I was given
when I bought it was that the plane was in a barn when the barn
collapsed. According to the logbooks, the original builder ran it off field
during the high-speed taxi testing. It sat for about a year before he
installed
a new prop on it.

The fiberglass parts of the plane are in pretty beat-up shape, but the main
parts of the wooden fuselage, including fiberglass the winglets, are in pretty
good shape. One wing isn't too bad, a few bumps here and there, but one will
almost need to be completely rebuilt. It looks like there was a problem with
the fuel tank in the wing that needs to be rebuilt, because someone took a saw
to upper glass/foam. The elevator has a smashed hole in it where it looks like
a board went all the way through. The cockpit is in decent shape, although the
instrument panel is gone. The retractable landing gear is in good shape. The
cockpit bubble is pretty good with some minor scuffing. The woodwork in the
fuselage is really well done and has held up nicely over the years.

I've started the restoration process, sanding/primer painting. I haven't
gotten
very far and was mainly just trying to get a layer of paint on the glass to
keep
it from deteriorating. I can see that it would be a very nice and sleek plane
when it's done.

I also have a set of plans and some cloth that are included. I used the
engine
on another project, and it is not included in the sale.

I'm asking $1000 obo. I'd prefer local pickup, but I can deliver it if it's
not
too far from SLC.

If you're interested, I can send some pictures of it's current condition.
